Alain is Founding Director of Leap into Life Foundation (www.leapintolife.nl ), a Netherlands based NGO that works closely with women processing Shea butter in Ghana Northern Region. The motto of Leap into Life Foundation is: “We do not teach people how to fish, we guide them how to take care of the pond”.
Alain has over 25 years of experience in organizing and facilitating change processes in complex systems such as large corporations, governments and society. He works from a holistic world view with two principles; 1. No challenge can be resolved from the level of thinking that created it, and 2. We can only find solutions if we acknowledge that we are part of the problem.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration and organizational psychology. He is a leading expert in Action Learning, group dynamics and a social technology called Spiral Dynamics. Over the last 8 years – travelling between Ghana and the Netherlands – he has been trying to combine his passion and skills for realizing a sustainable value chain in Shea butter.
Though not easy, he considers it as a privilege to work from grassroot level upwards with the women and communities in Ghana Northern Region. “I have learned as much from the illiterate women, their Chiefs, and their communities as from the many business & state leaders I’ve worked with, the books I’ve read, and courses I have participated in”.
